Why does the timeline grey out?
I have to manually drag the timeline end bar (?) to the beginning and back to the end again to see everything.
I'll then make a few more steps and see this
How can I avoid my modeling steps becomming greyed out? This did not used to happen.
Thanks

When you activate a component, all features except those which modify that component are grey to help identify modifying features. check timeline settings (gear at end of timeline). I don't recall, but maybe this is optional.
When top component is activated, all features are ungreyed.

"hide all inactive features" is unchecked. This happens when I only have one component. In this case, the sketches are greyed out. I don't recall physically activating a component. How do I go about unactivating it so I can see the entire timeline? The top assembly is already activated.
and the timeline is greyed out
the only thing I've found to correct this is to roll the history marker to the beginning, then back to the end everytime I make a change.

Sorry, my reply did not apply to your case. There is always one component activated. With the top activated all features are "active". I can check for other causes.

I recently started a new design and this is what I see.
Top assembly is activated, with only 2 components so far.
This is my timeline
Not sure why this is happening.
Thanks

I was wondering about that too, it seems like there's a timeline refresh bug, that results in failing to automatically remove the greyout.

Thanks for the reply!
Any idea if this is on Autodesk's radar to fix? Have you been able to find a better workaround than manually moving the history marker?
Thanks!

If it is indeed a bug an Autodesk employee will likely submit a 'bug ticket' I believe. And no, don't know of other clearing routes, but for now sliding the history marker doesn't take too much work 😉

BLDG_orange,
Thank you for you post.
This is a known issue logged with reference: FUS-16538
This is expected to be resolved in a forth coming update.
As a workaround you can hit the Play button:
This should replay your timeline.
Please try this and let us know.

Thanks Bob!
Glad to hear a fix is in the works.
Instead of the play button, I would recommend "go to the beginning" then "go to the end" buttons near the play button in the lower left portion of the screen. It's much faster.
Thanks!
